Gentha is one of the young researchers in ocean, coastal and fisheries management, and aquatic invasive alien species, who has been involved in several activities related to the national policy on ocean, coastal and fisheries management and governance in Indonesia. He has also contributed to the improvement and development of several policies related to sustainable fisheries in Indonesia. Gentha has interest and focus on ocean, coastal and marine resource management; aquatic invasive alien species and their impact on native biota in Indonesia; fisheries biology; and disaster management. He is affiliated as a Researcher at Center for Coastal and Marine Resources Studies, IPB University; Secretary of the Indonesian Centre for Research on Bioinvasions, and co-founder of Sulawesi Keepers.
